Sho-Jen is an experienced piano and music theory teacher based in Papworth Everard, Cambridge. She gained a BMus.(Hons) music degree from Kingston University and was awarded the Certificate of Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (CT ABRSM) after post-graduate study. She has been a member of the Independent Society of Musicians for many years.
Studying piano and music theory under the tutelage of Dr Wú, Jíe-Gāo, in Taiwan, Sho-Jen broadened her knowledge in the practice of both music and art. Deciding to expand her depth of understanding in music, she moved to the UK to undertake a Music degree.
For over four years, she studied piano with concert pianist Professor Dennis Lee (Royal College of Music), and composition with the composer Dr John Marlow Rhys. Her prize-winning composition for chamber orchestra, “Summer Landscapes”, was publicly performed in Surrey as recognition for winning first-prize at a Composition competition.
Professionally, Sho-Jen has worked as an interpreter at ABRSM examinations and has accumulated a wealth of experience teaching piano and music theory at various Primary and Secondary schools in Cambridgeshire, supplemented with over 25 years of private piano teaching.
Currently, Sho-Jen dedicates her time to private music teaching and painting (https://ShoJen.ART).
